George G. King Named Next AFA Director
The appointment of George G. King as the AFA's next director was announced exactly one hundred years from the date of the AFA's founding on May 12, 1909. King is currently the director of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where his many accomplishments include the growth of the museum's permanent collection from 94 objects to almost 3,000; the positioning of Georgia O'Keeffe within the broader context of American modernism with the organization of exhibitions featuring more than 150 other artists; and the building of the museum's endowment to an impressive $28 million. King will assume the AFA directorship on August 1.

Ford, Jason N. R. Herrick, Stephanie La Nasa, Muffy MacMillan, Michael B. Solovay, and Barbara Weeden as Vice Presidents; Richard S. Lane as Secretary; and Scott A. Dahnke as Treasurer. It is with deep regret that we announce the death of former AFA Trustee Jeanne Lang Mathews. Mathews joined the AFA Board in 1995 and served on a variety of committees. A longtime supporter of the organization, she was a member of the Benefactors Circle and a frequent participant in the AFA's ArtScapes travel program.
