Elie Nadelman: Classical Folk
June 2001–December 2001

The exhibition is curated by Suzanne Ramljak, editor of Metalsmith magazine and, most recently, a curator of exhibitions at the American Federation of Arts.

Focusing on the figure sculpture of Elie Nadelman (1882–1946), this exhibition curated by Suzanne Ramljak provided an opportunity to reappraise the artist's unique position within twentieth-century American sculpture. The approximately sixty sculptures in bronze, marble, wood, ceramic, and plaster, along with accompanying drawings, revealed Nadelman's full range of figurative treatment produced during his years in the United States (1914–46).

Exhibition Itinerary: McNay Art Museum (June 12–August 19, 2001) and the Frick Art and Historical Center (September 21–December 30, 2001).

The exhibition is organized by the American Federation of Arts. It is made possible in part by The Henry Luce Foundation, Inc. The exhibition is a project of ARTACCESS II, a program of the AFA with major support from the Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund.
