The Print in the North–The Age of Albrecht Dürer and Lucas van Leyden: Selections from The Metropolitan Museum of Art
March 2002– February 2003

Suzanne Boorsch and Nadine Orenstein are guest curators. Ms. Boorsch is curator at Yale University Art Gallery and Ms. Orenstein is associate curator of drawings and prints at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

With prints drawn from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's renowned collection of northern Gothic and Renaissance prints, this exhibition, curated by Suzanne Boorsch and Nadine Orenstein, examined developments in printmaking in Europe between 1440 and 1550. Focusing on the contributions of Albrecht Dürer (1471–1528) and Lucas van Leyden (1494–1533)—acclaimed during their lifetimes for their prints—the survey revealed these artists' influence on subsequent generations of printmakers. The approximately eighty engravings, etchings, and woodcuts reflected diverse subjects and technical innovations of the period.

Exhibition Itinerary: Currier Gallery of Art, Manchester, New Hampshire (March 22–June 16, 2002) and Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis (September 6, 2002–February 23, 2003).

The exhibition is organized by The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The national tour is organized by the American Federation of Arts.
