Maira Kalman

At the December 4th ArtTalk, acclaimed artist, illustrator, and writer Maira Kalman gave a witty and thought-provoking presentation that delighted adults and children alike. Her talk was accompanied by a slideshow of images from past publications and upcoming projects, and audience members were given the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session about her creative process.

Kalman's illustrations have appeared in articles for The New York Times, Departures, and Travel and Leisure and on the cover of The New Yorker. Kalman has written and illustrated a dozen children's books and created an illustrated version of The Elements of Style by Strunk and White. In 2007, her yearlong online column for The New York Times was compiled into a book, The Principles of Uncertainty.
